Short Dark Tetrad (SD4)
Four less-flattering personality tendencies: crafty, special, wild and mean.
About this scale
The Dark Tetrad is four subclinical personality tendencies found in ordinary people: Machiavellianism (scheming and manipulation), narcissism (grandiosity and wanting attention), psychopathy (impulsivity and defiance) and sadism (enjoying others' pain). The authors offer friendlier labels: crafty, special, wild and mean. Bands use the scale midpoint, not norms, and are not a diagnosis; the authors' student sample averaged 3.35, 2.95, 1.91 and 2.24.
