How to answerThink about an ordinary day over the last month or two, not the day you wish you had. How much does each statement sound like you? Go with your first instinct.

  1. Not long after I wake up, my mind is already up and running.
  2. Once it gets dark, I tend to perk up rather than wind down.
  3. I feel most like myself when I eat and sleep at roughly the same times every day.
  4. My best hours move around. One day it's the morning, the next it might be late at night.
  5. The quiet first hour or two of the morning feels precious to me.
  6. At early meetings or classes, my body shows up but my brain arrives later.
  7. When my routine gets knocked off once (a trip, one late night), it takes me days to get back on track.
  8. When I change time zones or shifts, I adjust faster than most people around me.
  9. Once the sun goes down, I'd rather not take on anything that needs real effort.
  10. When it's time for bed, I'm often not sleepy at all.
  11. I like my day to have a rough shape, so I know what happens when.
  12. When I sleep and wake usually depends on what the day brings. Two days rarely look the same.

About this quiz

Some people are wide awake first thing, others only come alive after dark. Some need routine, others are different every day. This quiz helps you see which daily rhythm you're closest to, so you can plan sleep, focused work and exercise around it. No type is better than another, and the result is just a prompt for noticing your own patterns.
